Electronic Privacy and Security
An Introduction For Your Consideration

Our company has been involved in matters of improved electronic privacy and security for over two decades. We started our original work on the internet before it was called the internet, and have watched it evolve substantially.

The internet was not designed with privacy and security as priorities. The ever-evolving tools we have today for greater electronic privacy and security, have been developed to fill those gaps.

We live in an increasingly digital world, and our on-line activities and electronic communications are an ever-growing part of our lives. Moreover, much of our lives now depend on our connection to the internet and on our electronic communications.

The easy availability of the world to us, and the easy availability of us to the world, have opened the doors for harm and abuse by amoral individuals and coercive governments. Most people would rather not take the relatively small amount of time, and the slightly-less convenience, that are required to protect their on-line activities and electronic communications from those who would cause them harm and problems. But, in comparison to the time and stress involved in coping with the difficulties caused by bad people, the effort needed to introduce greater privacy and security into our lives seems miniscule.

Some will say "I have nothing to hide," but a few well-considered questions and gentle challenges will usually reveal the falsity of that statement. The person may also come to realize that he does indeed care about privacy and security, but simply does not want to take the time and effort needed to better protect himself and his family. That is when an individual has a choice to make.

Privacy and security are not about hiding, but about sovereignty and greater safety as you live your life. Privacy is regarding that which you want to keep IN, and security is about that which you want to keep OUT. Why do you not share with the world your username and password to your bank account or e-mail account? Why do you lock your doors and windows at night?

A certain amount of privacy and security are needed to develop into healthier human beings, and to sustain your life. Privacy and security are not moral rights (except within our own property), no more than education or health care are moral rights, but greater privacy and security are required for better realizing who we are as an individual, and for leading a healthier life. Therefore, we can choose to use the relatively small amount of time needed to learn and utilize the information and tools available to that end. All that is required is a small amount of learning, and some minor changes in habits. Remember: If an electronic service is free (such as GMail), then know that YOU are likely the product.

Our EGF website will address many of the principles, tools, and practices needed to better protect your privacy and security while visiting websites, and while engaging in voice calls, video calls, text messaging, and e-mail. We will also provide links to other websites that also offer helpful information and tools related to privacy and security. You may be surpised at how easy it is to achieve greater electronic privacy and security, and learning and implementing them unfold one step at a time over weeks or months, not overnight. We hope to make that transition much easier and faster for you.

If you are interested in greater privacy and security in your electronic communications and on-line activities, we invite you to visit our website again. Also, please feel free to write to us if you have any suggestions, or any questions, that you would like to see addressed on our coming website.
